Default thinking about going ASM rear flare because of rust!

Like the title says, its common for new england cars to have rust on the quarter panels. I just noticed mine the other day when i was washing the s. The rust is right where the rear bumper and quarter meet, just right above the bumper tab. Ive seen some diy on here and some look dangerously easy. Obviously im planning on cutting the rust out to fit the asm fender. But opinions are needed

1. I dont mind going with authentic ASM rear flares, but does shines fit good also? Its 400ish for asm and 200ish for shines. Id rather have a great fit then a "ok" fit.

2. I plan to get the flares painted and do the cutting myself. U think thats a good idea?

3. Is there suppose to be something between the flare and the quarter panel like a weather stripping or something? Or is it just rivet and call it a day?

Imo asm is the best looking flare. I know these are a love it or hate it mod but i already like the look and plan on running some wide wheels and to get rid of this RUST!

I have a Shine spoon front/rear bumper and rear diffuser and plan on buying their spoon fenders when they come out also.. Everyone fit I'd say 8/10 out of the box so I'm guessing their ASM rear overs would be the same.. Probably going to do the same when I get spoon fenders. Post some pictures if you go that route I'd like to follow for sure.

I was hoping a 9.5/10 at least! I might run authentic asm flares then unless someone has a set of shines on their s. Its already bad enough im cutting the quarter panels, so fitment will be strict for me. Im thinking about running spoon front fenders also. Ive seen replicas that wasnt so hot on fitment.

They are supposedly releasing spoon fenders within a month also.. They claim very good fitment out of those. May be good to give Ken a call and see if he offers any kind of fitment guarantee or anything.
