tiny crack in windshield

Default tiny crack in windshield








Should i be worried that this will spread? if so whats the best way to put that to an end

Yes, it could spread. Since its not in your main view while you're driving, I would have it filled. I know Safelite does that kind of stuff, not sure who else.

they gave me a quote of 100 bucks . They charge the same for the chip no matter what size. I may see about filling it myself since its smaller then a pea.

ouch. They replaced my windshield, but it was free (Insurance has to replace your windshield in FL if you have a "large" crack). Its all a gamble if you don't do anything. It may be fine for a long time, but all it takes is one jolt and a little bit of bad luck and you will have to replace the windshield.

Check with your insurance company. A lot of companies will pay to have a crack like that filled to prevent having to pay for an entire windshield later on.

that quote was without the insurance company. I know they will fix it for free but im not sure if it will effect my premium. Does anybody know?

Also my windshield is kinda on the crappy side every one of those spots in the picture are small chips

from my experience it wont spread. i have about 3 chips like yours all of them havent spread and its been about a year.

You'd need to ask your insurance company. Don't overlook the independent windshield repair places but definitely get recommendations. Ask in your regional subforum.

I had one exactly like that on my windshield and it did not spread but I eventually changed my windshield when I repainted my car just because my dad owns an auto glass shop. 100 dollars seems like a lot just to fill in a crack why not just replace the whole thing?
