Default What can I expect to see after removing clear bra

Well I pulled the trigger on a 03 S that is in super shape and millage of 58,000 but the super only goes to everything except the clear bra on the mirrors
and behind the wheel wells. It's really in bad shape....all cracked but no peeling and I don't know what brand it is. It's gotta go for sure but wondering
if the cracks I see is the clear coat or the paint underneath? I won't have the car until Thursday but the first thing I will do is remove the
clear coat. Just finished reading about many comments on the removal process but this stuff has been on the car for 5-6 years at least, doesn't sound
like a fun process. Any help with what to expect and removing will be greatly appreciated....
Thanks

Ew, hopefully it's just the clear film. If I was in your shoes, I'd take it to a professional and have them remove it, i.e. unless you're experienced in that kind of thing.

Well the seller took a couple of hundred of his asking price, I will try one of the mirrors and see, but I think it will end up at the body shop for
a re-paint of mirrors and section on both sides of the back cowling. Not sure it was ever on the front and I thank my stars for that...
thanks for the reply...

leave the car out in the sun or heat it up with a blow dryer, when you think it is warm and pliable enough go ahead and get to peeling. It may leave an adhesive behind but that will come off with some scrubbing and goo gone. Hopefully the paint underneath the bra is still the same shade as the surrounding areas.

Thanks, and I did read this previously and that's what I will try....lot of cracks so I really don't expect to see paint underneath that I will be happy with but that's why we
have paint shops and I have a good one that will it match perfectly.

I'm excited about my new ride that will be only for those sunny days on my way to the coast, of course here in Florida we have many of those days...and also excited about this forum
where you can find a ton of great info....I am on the Ridgeline forum too and love hearing about mods and things done to their rides....
Thanks again

This is sort of the reason i think it doesn't make a whole lotta sense to do a clear bra. Some places charge upwards of $1000 to put clear bra on the whole front of the car..

As a follow up to my post about removing clear bra, it's completed after 14 hours of heating and scraping, it only came off in small bits about the size of a quarter
and then had to clean with 3m adhesive remover. Started using hair dryer, then tried steam, then a rubber wheel made for removing pin-striping but went back the the heat using my heat gun. I have one that has variable heat settings and the best was about 275 degrees of course scraping with plastic scraper as I heated it. Tried to put some pictures up but could not figure out but the end result was super and well worth my effort. No paint damage, no clear coat damage....and after using clay bar to insure it was clean used a cleaner wax and then a polishing wax and WOW....why anyone would put this stuff on and leave it there for more than a year or two is beyond me.....if anyone wants to see pictures just PM me and I will send you some...thanks for reading.....Mike

Mine was really bad, cracks all over, yellowing color, chances are if yours is still fairly smooth and not any or many cracks it will come off
easier than mine, just wish I could post picture here. If your planning on keeping your car for awhile it will get worse.....
Good thing is paint underneath is still good....
