Default This will buff right out...wont it? LOL

Hey so I picked this car up off my buddy after he wrapped it around a tree. Im about to part out but also have been wondering if I can somewhat repair it to turn into a track car because everything else is fine and I wouldnt care much for cosmetics.

The area where your feet around the pedals is compressed to the point where you can only fit both feet side by side...Is it possible to put a hydraulic jack in the footwell and push it out? Get a new door and something like that or just forget it?

It would be cool to gut it and make it into a track car even if it looked a bit F*%^&D

Looks like the damage is quite significant. The A-pillar may have been moved, which is an instant "total".

Remove the driver side door, fender, and side skirt to assess the damage. Make sure the shock tower is not moved. If it is, it may be tricky to pull back to shape.

Most bodyshops would be able to pull the frame back in place for you. Then all you have to do is to find a new fender and door and you are done. As long as the body is straightened, how bad the fender or the door looks woudn't affect the way the car handles.

What I would do is remove the door and fender, and let a bodyshop do an estimate on how much it costs to pull the frame back to shape. The door may look bad, but beneath the crumpled door may just be a bent frame that could easily be pulled back to shape using a body alignment machine. Don't let the condition of the door fool you into thinking that the damage is bad. In most cases, the body could be pulled back to specification at that very location. You may or may not need new floor boards. New floor boards can be welded back on once the frame is pulled back to shape and the old one board removed.

It should be around $1,3000 to $2,500 to pull the frame back to shape depending on the condition and where you live. Uninstalling the old floor board and installing a new one may cost around $200-400. New floor boards should cost around $70 from the parts department.

Yeah it is definitely a total to the insurance company!!!

The cost of a new floor board, new fender/door/mirror, frame straightening, labor, accessories, and paint can cost upward of roughly a $9k. Many insurance companies would total a car if its repair costs is over half the market value of the car.

For us S2Ki members, we could find body panels and doors for cheap, and perhaps find a shop to pull the frame straight for way below what it costs to fix it at market rate.

Frame damage. It will might never handle the same ever again, even if you pull it out. I'm sure its worth a try if it is done for free but otherwise I'd part it out.

I'd have a pussy stroke if my car ended up like that What year AP1 is this?

No way, car is totalled. To crush that side rail requires a significant impact. Car is toast.

It could be made in to a track car with out problems. i love all the misconceptions about wrecked cars that go around on these forums. but it's going to cost you about 2.5-3 k to get it back into shape before any paint. I'd think i would just part it out anyway. Save a lot of time and trouble. by the way PM me if you fell comfy with drilling off the quarter panel.

misconceptions nothing.... that rocker panel is trashed.

you can fix anything with enough money but i don't think this would be worth it.
