Default Brake pad change

Hey guys,

So today I got around to changing my brake pads for the first time. The trouble is I can't get the caliper to open up! I'm doing pretty much exactly what both the DIY and service manual say in that I am pushing the rubber boot back to get to the inner nut, then holding that while I try to loosen the outer one (facing the engine bay of the car). But no matter how hard I try the damn thing won't come loose. So far I've tried degreaser as well as an electric and power drill but the thing won't budge. Is there some sort of locking mechanism here because I am now completely lost.

No.... might just be stuck. Impact gun is your friend. Or a wrench and a hammer. Just make sure you're going in the correct direction!

I'm assuming I turn the screw on the inside counter-clockwise on the left front calliper... I'm gonna give that wrench hammer idea a go. It's just that the mechanic managed to get it off when he was servicing the car, so could he have made it a bit to tight?

Looking at the bolt head on, lefty-loosey, righty-tighty. So yes, counter clockwise to loosen looking at it head on.

Mechanics always overtighten everything; lugnuts, oil drain plugs, etc.

The wrench + hammer + degreaser did the trick, took a while but got there... not to mention had to squeeze the brake fluid out by hand lol.
Anyways, thanks for the help spdracerut.
