Clicking while rolling (different than hub nut "clunk")?
Hi Guys,
I don't have a lot of spare time these days and will need to be pointed about my inspection and fix here. I figured I would ask to hopefully get some thoughts and save time.
Here’s the deal:
Symptoms: “Clicking/creak" from right rear corner when rolling. The sound is most audible when the driveline is unloaded (acceleration and deceleration with clutch out seem to hide it). The sound absolutely follows wheel speed and is roughly once per revolution. The best way I can describe it is as if there was a baseball card taped to the axle and would slap once per wheel rotation
For starters…no there is nothing wrapped around the axle .
I replaced all of the wheel bearings on all four corners last year along with new hub nuts etc. I believe I torqued to the 220ft-lb number, however I can’t recall if, at that time, I used the old ~180ft-lb spec. I have since rechecked the torque at 220 and it is tight. The sound did not become apparent until about 2 weeks ago.
Has anyone cracked a rotor or had a caliper slide stick that sounded similar to this? I find it hard to believe that the load would matter with the caliper, however its possible with the cracked rotor theory.
Thoughts?
