Default Facts on Cut Springs

As title states i just got a set from my friend who switched to coil overs, and he gave it to me instead of throwing them away.

Im seriously debating of putting them on and seeing how they ride although i drove in his car and it seemed stiffer than my eibachs...

I just want to know what the negatives it would have on my car besides possible bounce, i know its pretty stupid to even be considering it but im just looking for some accurate details on what it would do to the car, and "make it ride like shit" is not an answer im looking for...

I know our shocks are designed to ride with OEM height so i can see the drastic negatives coming from cut springs to aftermarket springs as they both are very different than our oem springs

flame suit on anyway...

Cool, and again a big part of me agrees, but its tempting to at least try, since they were free and id like to see the world from a slammed position. i know our shocks are designed to ride with OEM height so i can see the drastic negatives coming from cut springs to aftermarket springs as they both are very different than our oem springs

Short answer, don't do it. I wouldn't even put lowering springs on a car. If you want to upgrade the suspension, a good set of coilovers is really the only way to do it.

friend of mine did it to his cr....unsure as why in hell he did it...o well he did...car had 60k on the clock drove dumped on cut springs bouncing the spinal fluid out of our heads and blew 3 of the 4 struts in under a month.....his car is stock w. cut springs....lucky him i lettm use a set of oem springs so honda could warentee his struts and now hes got some drop springs that supposedly have a stiffer then oem cr rate and only a 1.5inch drop(this is what he told me havnt seen him in ages) well its been over a year now he says its a dream machine again lolz.

please either toss them in the trash sell the for scrap metal or sell them to a local ricer and god have pity on his soul

I second this opinion. If you want it to perform and not just lowered for looks, a GOOD set of coilovers is the only way to go.

back in the day I cut the springs on my integra. You completely change the physical properties of the springs dynamics. Thus, you change the geometry of the entire suspension system and the fact is it's for the worse.

If all you care about is being low, cut your springs and make sure your self-respect gets thrown away with the pieces. Have some respect for the car and have some respect for yourself...don't cut springs.

To all those "To each their own" nuts, I'll quote the Bible on this one:

1 Corinthians 10:23
“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive.

^^^Paul is saying here...don't be a retard even though you are capable of it.

You can get lowering springs on ebay for less than $150. They steal the r&d from companies like Eibach and Tein and produce affordable copies that will perform exactly the same. Cut springs are pretty dangerous IMO. The coil ends are not closed properly and they will not safely perch on the struts. It is very easy for a cut spring to wind off the perch and bind up in your suspension and cause an accident, definately not worth writing off a 10K+ car to save $100 on lowering springs.
