I’ll need to check in a couple weekends, I don’t have super accessible space to check this stuff yet.

Question though, if this is a stuck/misaligned caliper issue, could it cause a slightly mushier pedal at a stoplight?

Do you have multiple threads on this? I don't see my previous response

Yes. Anything that causes the caliper or pad to distort or flex will add pedal travel.

I feel the same cause I was pretty sure I replied to this before.

For the comment about the initial bite being gone... did you bed the pads in properly? Any track oriented pad is going to have considerably less bite before you bed them in.

He's posted in this thread as well - Have you bled your brake master cylinder and gotten improved results? - S2KI Honda S2000 Forums and this one - HELP: Slight sponginess at top of pedal, can't figure it out - S2KI Honda S2000 Forums

Thanks @sam_spider and apologies for the confusion. Will stick to this one thread from now.

I’ll update back once I have a moment to inspect the calipers.

Brakes are notably feeling a bit worse today. I’m still experiencing the phenomenon where sometimes while grazing the brakes, the pedal gets pulled down out of nowhere to maintain brake pressure - maybe 0.5-1 cm. They also don’t ever come back to normal feel anymore (they were last week).

Hopefully not the master going

I believe I did bed them in, and bite got better as I did. it feels about the same as before i swapped the pads.

But regardless of bite, I can tell that my pedal travel has increased by maybe a centimeter when stationary, and the resistance starts later than it used to 2 months ago.

In the case that this is a failing master, what are my options?

I don’t see any new OEM or aftermarket 2000-2005 BMC’s anywhere.

Go used? Rebuild?

Have no idea if this has any effect on braking or your feel but the firewall flexes under brake pedal pressure. Open the hood and watch while someone presses the brakes.

Aftermarket master brake cylinder braces are available to remove some of the slop. Do a search. I have the LHT version in my car. My notes from 10 years ago are in the link. Opinions on utility vary but mine is staying in.
