Not sure if I want to lower the a yet or not but would just springs be okay or do I need to go for the works?

I've been researching this myself. It seems like the Eibach Pro kit gets a lot of love with stock shocks, as well as the Swift spec R. However, it seems the consensus is that if you have a lot of miles, you may as well get new shocks to to go with the springs, since they're most likely beginning to wear. I guess the lowering springs will just accelerate it.

Hope this helps.

I'm at 60k myself, and I think I'll be ok with just springs.

If you get springs you end up at a set height with no adjustment. Coilovers give a range of a couple of inches. Plus with coilovers you can get corner balanced as you need to be able to adjust the load on each corner of the car.

Depends on your plans.

For looks and street use? I'd do springs. Less expensive and less complicated than dealing with coilovers. Corner weighting is not important on a street car. (I was very pleased with the Eibach Pro kit for street use.)

For autocross and track use? Definitely a good quality set of coilovers. (I just installed Ohlins DFV coilovers. The Eibachs weren't cutting it for autocross.)

Don't waste time and money on springs if your shocks are beat.

With previous cars I have always ended up buying coilovers after having springs as the ride seemed to get crappy pretty fast with the springs. As other said coilovers have the added benefit of adjusting the height. Personally I would just wait and buy coilovers.
