Default Rotors: Stoptech vs. Power Slot

Have been doing some research on a few different slotted rotors. I've done some reading on most people sticking to just blanks, but I'm looking for something that looks a tad better(reason for going with slotted).

I've narrowed it down to the Stoptechs and Power Slot rotors. Both seem to be around the same price, and both have the same type of paint coating to protect it from corrosion.

Curious if anyone could give a reason why one would be better than the other, or if they're pretty much the same rotor, same/different material, etc.? Also, car is not tracked, but will probably enter a few autox events later this year.

Thanks guys!

HPS pads are teh suxorz...

OEM are FAR superior, on the street and *especially* at the track! This despite the fact that OEM are not good track pads.

HPS were by far the *worst* pads I've ever experienced at the track. I'd had good success with HP+ (still do), so I thought I'd try the HPS. BIG mistake. Softer pedal and less bite on the street, and overheated within one lap at the track! Fortunately they only lasted for three hair-raising abbreviated ~10-minute sessions (during which I relied *heavily* on engine braking) before they were nearly to the backing plates, at which point I threw the OEM pads back in and got infinitely better braking.

HPS = utter crap.

In my experience...

I also wanna know this. Been searching and I am on the same exact page as you fish22. I was also looking at Centric blank cryo rotors but still have the powerslot and stoptechs in mind. Centric manufactures the discs for stop tech and powerslot so they may even be the same thing.

I had my rotors resurfaced when I had my pads changed about a year ago. But the brakes have not been great so might wanna replace disc and pad altogether.

Let me know what you decide and why. Also what pads do you plan to run?

Since Centric now owns both Stoptech and Powerslot, all Stoptech slotted rotors you will receive will be old stock. Stoptech and Powerslot (pre-centric ownership) used to use other cores from Brembo, Bradi, PBR, etc. Now since they're under ownership of Centric, all new slotted rotor stock will be under the Powerslot brand. Drilled and drilled/slot will be under Stoptech/Sportstop and will be using for the most part, Centric Premium cores. Basically, what you want to look for in the part number is 121.xxxxx. If it has xxxPSR or xxxPSL, these will be old stock. Basically, Centric and Stoptech are using the same part numbering method and is now being done across the line.

A cheaper line of slotted rotors (I'm not sure if they have them for S2K yet) are the C-Tek Powerslot rotors. They are milled in exactly the same way, but don't have that anti-rust e-coating on the hat and rim of the rotor.

Thanks for all the great info. Was recently on Tirerack and came across the DBA4000 rotors(not sure how I missed them before). They are a little more expensive than the others, but they have a very interesting slot design. Very attractive.

Has anyone used these before. Haven't really seen the name brought up much on this site.
