stoping
okay so iv been reading and people are half and half on oem vs hp+. any ideas what to run on a boosted s putting down 500whp and doing highway pulls. my oem rotors have been cut 2 times that i know of since iv owned the car. and after a couple of pulls and stopping/slowing from 130ish im getting hot spots like crazy. not much warp to the rotors though. i take it stainless lines dot 4 brake fluid but what about the pads and rotors. or is it time for a big brake kit? i do autocross a bit but never really use brakes to much it seem the high mph stops are killing the rotors. any suggestions?
Get new rotors (machined rotors have far less heat capacity), make sure you have high temp Dot 4 fluid, and get ducting for your front brakes. Ducting has proven to be far more effective at preventing fade than BBK's and costs next to nothing comparatively.
Try runnning a pad that can handle higher temps. HP+ are a more aggressive pad in terms of bite but they have a low maximum operating temp of ~800 F. Try a pad with a higher maximum operating temp. I would look at light track duty street pads like ferodo ds2500 (MOT ~1100ish F), project mu club racer (MOT 1400 F) and other pads like them.
