Default Stoptech Trophy vs. Alcon BBK

Im torn between these two BBK's. I've read great things about the Trophy but not much about the Alcon units. Both are comparable in price.

Car is a street car that will see a max of about 8 track events a year mostly time attack events.

For those with the ST Trophy how do u like them? How's the Finish? On the standard ST40 kits the paint finish gets dull and faded fairly quickly after a few events.... My understanding is the Troph are anodized and not painted therefore that problem wont arise... Also read somewhere about rusted bolts and poor customer support from Stoptech.

Can anybody with Alcons give me their opinion on their kits?

Both are great from what little i've read online.

Thanks!!

Doesn't the trophy kit require 18's due to its size? Seems like overkill. the urge kit is very nice as well.

No the Trophy in 328mm rotors will clear 17's just fine.

Urge (AP) is more expensive than both the trophy/alcons.

I have never heard any complaints about the Stoptech kit finish on the regular ST40 setup. If you do any moderate level of detailing and like To keep your cars clean and just do something as simple as wipe the calipers down when wheels are off I doubt you'll have a problem with the finish.

With an anodized finish you'll need to be careful about certain cleaners. I've personally pulled the anodized finish off some small parts by just soaking them in degreaser.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. The AP Urge kit looks really nice too.

Trophy kit in size is not any different than the standard ST40 kit.

The stoptech calipers WILL colour shift after a few season. A bunch of us locally all have the red kit and its pretty easy to see how the newest ones are a brighter red and the ones with more track days (I'm talking 30-40 track days+) are a bit darker.

Having said that, they aren't turning purple or anything like that. If you didn't compare them side by side to newer ones then you wouldn't think twice about the colour.

They're easy to clean, I just give mine a quick swipe with my mitt when I wash my wheels.

I love my Stoptech's and IMO they're the best value on the market and stoptech has always been great when I've called them up with questions.

As for rusted bolts I haven't had that issue with my standard kit.

Just from what i've seen at the track the Standard ST40 looks awful after a few seasons of use where as the Trophy still look spotless.

That alone for me is worth the $500 difference lol.

The Trophy Kits haven't been out that long to get that many seasons on them. That said the anodized finish should in theory hold up better. I wish the Trophy kit still was the orginal lighter silver color.

They are anodized and forged...

Looks like we have a winner.
