Default 06+ Roll Bar Speaker wiring

Well I had a pioneer headunit in my AP1 with a radio harness which worked fine with all 4 speakers it had. But I have an 07 now which has 8 speakers (4 in the roll bar). therefore the same headunit doesn't power those rear speakers. From what i've been reading apparently the wiring for those speakers are on a diff harness (maybe the secondary/smaller plug on the back of the unit). Does anyone know which wires run to those speakers and what would be the best way to wire them into the pioneer harness? I searched online and no one seems to sell and 06+ specific harness that facilitates the additional roll bar speakers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Marc

ummm , i dunno what you have but there isn't supposed to be 8 speakers?? unless your talking about 2 sets of components... then your fine either way.

06+ s2000's have 8 speakers in total

- 2 door speakers
- 2 tweeters on door
- 4 roll bar speakers (2 in each roll bar)

I don't have one, but I'm fairly certain the newer cars with the roll bar
speakers still use a standard Honda 4-channel radio just like the earlier
cars, but instead of leaving the rear channels unused, the left rear channel
powers both left rear speakers, and the right rear channel does the same
for the right rear speakers.
Did you have rear speakers in your AP1? If so, they were aftermarket
and the rear speaker wires from the Pioneer harness likely bypassed the
Honda harness and went straight to the rear speakers. If not, I'm
surprised the rear speaker wires from the Pioneer harness weren't
connected to the rear speaker wires in the Honda adapter harness, even
though they wouldn't have done anything in an AP1.
In any event, I believe if your Pioneer harness has four pairs of speaker
wires coming out of it, you can hook it up to any generic Honda harness
and it should work. If you are using a DCI to retain your dash controls,
you should buy Modifry's harness (http://www.modifry.com) as it has the
dash control and mute wires which most of the generic ones are missing.

I have an aftermarket head unit in my '07, with the rear HU amp channels powering the headrest speakers (each pair of headrest speakers is one channel). I'm using the wiring harness from Modifry.

Have you hooked up the harness and found it to not work? On an AP1, assuming the 4 speakers you refer to are the mid and tweeter in each door, that was really only 2 channels, utilizing only the front HU outputs.

here's the info on Modifry's adapter harness:
http://www.modifry.com/products/dci/adapter.htm
if your adapter harness has the dash and remote wires, as well as power and ground, going to the DCI, it's probably already Modifry's harness.

here's a list of the standard wire color codes to see if you have rear speaker
wires leading from the Pioneer harness to the Honda adapter harness:
http://www.sfxaudio.com/AudioSchool/colorcodes.asp

finally, this site shows the pin positions on the Honda harness:

well i know for a fact i dont' have the modifry harness... i wired in the DCI myself. i think what i may have to do is figure out the pins on the oem harness that map to the rear speakers and then tap it to the pioneer harness. it'll only be two wires though so shouldn't be a big deal. thanks for the links. i appreciate it

Oth... thanks for your help. Turns out i DID actually have the modifry harness and didn't realize it.

The modifry one didn't have pins for the rear speakers. I ended up buying a scosche (sp) harness for a 4 speaker 98+ honda that worked fine. that's when i realized the two extra wires in the other harness for the DCI. I just yanked them out of the DCI harness and pinned them into the new harness now everything works like a charm.
