Default 1000 to spend

I should have a good bit of spending money at the end of the summer. If i set aside 1000 to just do audio for my car, what would be a good combination. Dont include installation cost because i hate people i dunno touching my car so it would all be done by me and my friends. I mostly listen to alternative music but sometimes i listen to music that has a little bump to it. Just throw out some possible combinations and why they are good. Note: i dont know a thing about audio so if you use technical terms, explain what they are please. Thanks!

With that kind of budget I would get new door speakers, a new head unit (HU) and an amplifier.

Most will reccomend Alpine HU's. I like my Sony, others have had problems with Sony. Get one that works with Modifry's DCI. The DCI allows you to retain the dash controls to work the HU.

I would get a 4 or 5 channel amplifier depending on what you might want to add down the road. Get a 4 channel if you plan to get either a subwoofer or rear speakers, and I would get a 5 channel if you plan to get both rears AND a sub. You can get by with a 4 channel either way, but if you do get both rears and a sub, then you will need to get an extra amp for the sub. Some prefer a separate amp anyway as a sub draws a lot of power.

This combination would offer far superior sound to what you have now and leave you open to add more options in the future.

Id have to buy everything as i go or id spend it on other stuff, so the sooner you can get me product names the better. Also, is any of this stuff available at best buy? i have a connection there but he is quiting soon and i can get a good discount.

If anyone else has any potential system setups throw em my way. Thanks!

The audio (low end) that they sell at best buy, is dirt cheap online.
