Just a note I am going with the new CDA-7995 Alpine. Good stuff. XM ready MP3 capibility and all around good chassie. The most important thing is the sub control as well as a significant amount of tunning ability in the deck. All up 499 bucks. Can't go wrong. Onoly thing is that i can't interface with my controls but I can live with that, and it is a unpowered unit, so you have to run everything with amp's, but its a true 4 watt output with gold connectors so just match all the connecters and you are good for nice clean music.

Storm- Why can't you interface your controls. I just installed the 7965 using the SWI-X from Lucid and all is well. Does newer model use a different remote or what???

We were under the impression that we could keep the controls it is just not finished yet. I don't think that I will need the lucid harness though. I get all of my work done at a Al and Ed's off of Mira Mar near the budget dealer. They have done my last 5 cars and they do excellent work. They have two of the best installers in the city working for them and they can do just about anything that you cant done. Custom boxes full fiberglass jobs, plus the owner of the shop is very cool and will run whatever you want though his opinion on equipment so far has been very good. I built the temp sub enclosure they installed, I wanted to keep my daash controls they found a way to do it.

If you have a good installer, I am sure you will be fine to keep your controls.

Lucid's harness is basically a standard S2000 harness that you can get anywhere. The difference is he has added the mute wire and extras you need, provided excellent step by step tutorials, and sells his harness a couple of bucks CHEAPER than the one ya gotta munk with.

Same with the SWI-X interface for the controls. I could have purchased it locally for only $25 dollars MORE than Lucid sells it for, and spent a couple of hours trying to figure it out myself and wiring my own diode protected socket, but Lucid saved me $$$ and time.

I thought that you were doing the work yourself, in which case I would highly recommend Lucid's site. But since you have competent installers, I would just refer them to the site. They probably don't do S2k's every day, and if his homework saves them time it will save you $$$.

Storm - Thanks for the info. I know exactly where they're at. Do they have access to any kind of equipment or just what they have? If they're limited, will they accept "brought in" equipment and just charge for install?

I'm a sound freak myself but Honda spent lots of time designing a car with near 50/50 weight distribution. If and when I get my S, I'm thinking of adding these items to the trunk:

1. Average 4, 5 or 6 channel amp (by "average" I mean somewhere between low and high end like Rockford Fosgate and lets say 50 or 75 watts per channel)

2. A JL 10W3 or 12W3 with standard medium density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure.

3. Enough Dynamat to line the trunk and trunk lid

Does anyone know how much this stuff would weigh altogether and whether it would affect handling?

My system weighed in approx 45lbs more than the spare and jack and stuff. I definatly need to find a way to keep the trunk lid quiet. The air pressure is so great in thetrunk it pushes the lid off of the seal.
