Thumbs up 2 questions...

1. I need the special screws that the amp uses to screw down all the cables (power, ground, and speakers) It looks like a barrel with threads. I am missing them. Where I can I buy some?

2. Right now I have an Alpine 9833. It's not installed yet. How would I go about running a 10 gauge cable to it? The yellow power cable coming off the harness is so skinny. I have an amp kit with with a distrubition block with only (2) 8 gauge outputs which will be running my 2 amps. I want to run the deck to power my rear speakers. I guess I have 2 questions here.

A. Do I have to run 10 gauge to the amp if I won't be using the internal amp?
B. If I do use the internal amp, how do I connect it to the 10 Gauge running to the battery?

You need set screws for the amp. I just had the same issue, missing an amp screw. Don't spend time looking, email your amp manufacturer and ask them what size you need and where you could purchase them. They are mailing mine to me tomorrow for free.

Good luck.

I think your a little confused. Let me try and help you out a little.

As for those screws, you can get replacements at any Home Depot or Loews hardware stores.

As for the Power leads:

You need to run the 10 gauge power wire directly to the battery for the head unit.
To run the 10 gauge wire you can remove the battery and right behind it you'll find a grommet that you can run the wire through. Be sure not to damage the other wiring running through that grommet. Run the wire under the carpet but close to the center of the car(along the tranny tunnel) to the back of the HU.

Once you have run wire you should solder the connection from the Alpine harness to the the 10 gauge wire. Once soldered you should shrink wrap the connection or at least properly wrap it in tape. Make sure you keep the stock Alpine fuse on the wire harness.

YFor your amp you should run (1) 4 gauge wire from the battery to a fuse within 18" inches of the battery to a distribution block in the trunk from that distribution block you can run (2) 8 guage leads to your amps.

Right now I have an amp kit installed. So I am already running a 4 Gauge wire from the battery to a Fuse and then to my distrubution block where it does slpit into (2) 8 guage leads to my amps. I am running my stock deck. So you're saying I can run another 10 gauge from my HU to the battery and clip it on there (the battery terminal) along with the 4 gauge? Also, i know the alpine harness you're talking about. So am I soldering the 10 guage power cable to the, I believe it's yellow, power cable which is alot thinner?

Ohh and one more thing. Is there a name for those screws? Could I just use regular ones?

Thanks for everyones help....

If you are using an amp for powering your speakers and defeating the internal amp of the 9833, I don't think you need to directly wire it to the battery. I've been running my Alpine off the harness (which is MADE by Alpine Europe) for years with no problems.

That's what I was thinking. For now I wasn't going to use the interal amp but I will in the future when I install the rear speakers. I would like to prepare for that though because it won't be too long before I add the rears. I was just thinking of just wiring it up for now and leaving the wires there for when I install the rears so that I just have to plug them in.

Thank you all..............

Yes just solder the 10 gauge to the yellow power lead off the harness. You use the 10 gauge to handle the power draw from the battery. Yes you can just use a ring terminal to attach it to the battery terminal.

I guess I wasn't too clear in my earlier message on the screws. They're called "set screws". Yes, they do sell set screws at HD and Lowes, but depending on your amp, good luck in finding the right size, that is why I ended up emailing the manufacturer.

I actually called XTANT and they were very cool about it. I told the guy on the phone what I was looking for (Set Screws) and he asked me how many I needed. I told him. He then asked for my address. After I told him, he said he will ship them out the same day. I was shocked. I didn't have to pay for them and the phone conversation was over within 2 minutes. Great service.
