Default 3rd gen MP3/CD head units - which are the best?

The JVC SH99 and Alpine 7878 were the barely-disputed kings of MP3/CD head units last year. There's a whole new crop out, any thoughts on the best of the best?

Mid-range:
Alpine 7894
Blaupunkt San Jose (w/ WMA)
Blaupunkt Los Angeles
JVC LH2000
JVC SH909 (this year's SH99)
Kenwood 619
Kenwood 819
Kenwood 919 (has DMASK - not S2000 friendly)
Kenwood eXcelon 659
Pioneer 7400

High End:
Alpine 7995
Alpine 7897 (this year's 7878?)
Alpine 7998
Kenwood eXcelon 859 (has DMASK)
Kenwood eXcelon 959 (w/ WMA)
Pioneer 8400
Pioneer 9400
Sony MP70
Sony MEX5DI

I have the SH99 in my other car and it's everything it was billed to be... Definately need to replace the OEM unit in the S2000.

I don't think the JVC SH-909 is available yet. I just ordered the 707 and will install it this weekend.

I will post pics and a review when its done.

I purchased the Alpine 7894 this year and will be installing it shortly, after which I can provide you with some feedback. From what I have seen of the unit so far, I am extremely pleased.

I also am eagerly awaiting the release of this unit from Alpine. Hopefully, sometime in June.

i know the 7998 and 7995 both face will come out a little bit. Do you think if you have any problem for our cars?

Based on some early measurements it appears to fit based on the current Alpine specs they are sending to there dealers. I'm also concerned so am waiting to actually see the unit to determine fit, but first look seems like it will be a go.

what do you think about the pioneer DEH-p940mp and their nav system?

I always like pioneers too and they price is more reasonable.

I don't have an opinion of Pioneer equipment. I've never owned it, and have not done alot of reading on it either. Sorry, I'm no help on this one.
