Not really. I had a Red 8500, upgraded to a Blue X50. There is some getting used to. At first it was hard for me to read (and I was dissapointed) However, after a few days, mabey I week I got used to it. I also switched to the "advanced" display and that could have had a LOT to do with it too.

np. they are identical units. Escort is just milking the market for an extra $40 for the novelty of having blue LED's....

that, and i do think the blue LED's cost more to manuf. (note, i think... )

Blue LED's do cost more to make. I do not know why. If you go into Radio Shack and look at LED prices, the blue ones are always a few bucks more. So, in a unit that has 280 LED's in its display, I'm sure it ads up.

I just ordered a blue one. I should get it tomorrow.

well, i know for a long time 'true' blue LED's (and not just tinted) were difficult or impossible to make...

so, i'm not sure if the blue's actually cost more to make, OR if they're just the new popular girl on the block who expects a nice dinner before she'll nookie a bit...
