After market HID kit
My ballast to my stock HID blew out. It cause about 400 bucks or so to get one from the dealer and its a pain the the butt just trying to buy just the ballast. I was wondering can I put an after market HID in to our car? It will be cheaper for an after market kit. Anyone have any experience about this? Thanks for all of responds!

you can probably get the OEM ballast for less from someone other than
your dealer, for instance:

Yea just post up the "want to buy" section and you can def. get ballasts for cheaper I sold mine for like $150 + shipping for both. Also if you do decide you want to go the aftermarket route it can be done but you will need to do some splicing. I did aftermarket bulbs/ballasts.
um well if you had original ballasts you could just change the bulbs, I went with 6k and its much brighter but less visibility technically. I just like the compromise of the look/visibility its still very good for me.

plus if you know anything about hid, you can just get the 4300k and bend the light to get your "blue/purple" light out of your cutoff. i dont understand when people get anything higher than 4300k.
sometimes it looks good sometimes it doesnt, but the fact is 4300k is the brightest.for the OP, i posted in your other thread. you need to get an oem ballast because you will leave a big hole in the bottom of your headlight where moisture will tend to go into if you go aftermarket ballasts. plus aftermarket ballasts are NOT reliable

buy a 50w D2s HID kit and enjoy Brighter HID..I have been thinking of doing this even if my oem hids are still OK.
Just you need to take out both headlights to install it properly and wire it,but taking the headlights off is easy,
Cheers

it is NOT brighter, 6000k is further across the kelvin board and has less intensity. 4300k is oem and is what the s2000 and all oem vehicles use. It is the whitest and brightest. 6000k is just going to get you more of a blue light, but lose brightness.
