Aftermarket Stereo Installation
I just bought a new 2005 S2K and had a stereo shop pull all of the electronics from my old 2000 S2K and install them in the new ride. A problem arose with the deck. It does not sit far enough back for the stereo door to close. The only way is to push kind of hard on the left side of the door (not smooth) which also pushes in the source button, which is ridiculous, so I always leave the door open. This stereo fit great in my '00 but the installer said that the '05 had less room and the stereo needed to stick out more because of the design. I thought they were feeding me a line of
so I made another guy (at the same shop though) look at it and he agreed. Are these guys amateurs or is this true of the '05? If so, not cool, but I guess I'll live. Thanks for any advice.
I swapped the stereo out in my 01 and just did the same in my 05 (but not the same HU) and it seems exactly the same to me. It is a pain in the behind to get it to go back all the way but that is due to the cable, connectors, and wires on the HU the HU itself should fit just fine.
I think you are right to call "BS" on this - but first tell us what HU you are using just in case it is some odd size or something.....

Here is the link to the head unit. It doesn't seem to be strangely large or anything as far as I'm concerned. I may have to go for a 2nd opinion so knowing whether or not there is a size difference from '00 to '05 would give me some ammo.

give John a call. it's pretty easy to fix. you'll just need a medium sized phillips head to do it.
it is pretty tight back up in there once you start stacking multiple RCA's, harnesses, etc.
