Default Alarm Recommendation

I know I am openning a can of worms (like asking what is the best oil for the S2000). What alarms does anyone recommend for this car? Seems like the Clifford 600 is mentioned a fair amount of the time. More importantly does anyone have a recommended installer in the Eastern North Carolina area?

I am getting paranoid as I am having to live in an apartment for the next year (activated military) and I always have had my S2000 garaged. The stories on the seat theft are causing me to loose sleep at night. Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance.

We (self and another AZ S2000 owner) installed a Hornet 700T with the 508D Field Disturbance sensor

The alarm interfaces with the OEM Keyless entry (so you keep the factory remotes). The Field disturbance sensor works well for times when the top is down (or up) - it gives a warning chirp as they move closer to the car and sets off the alarm if they reach into the car. It is adjustable so you can make it not so sensitive.

Hornet is made by DEI (Direct Electronics) who also make Viper, Python, Clifford, etc... I have installed DEI alarms for many years and they are very reliable.

As WLaurent stated, the alarm works very well and you can keep the factory remotes. The motion field works very well with the top down. I don't put my top up unless I am forced to do so.

I would definitely install this alarm again.

Where did you connect the wires to the factory keyless entry? I'm about to install the same alarm. I wanted to do a clean install and was thinking connecting directly at the Keyless entry module.

Thanks.

Can you guys give some details on the installation, like difficulty, how long, any tips. I went car alarm shopping today but it looks like I'd be looking at $360 installed for a Viper with the same features as the Hornet.
I'd much rather save the money and go with the Hornet.
Also, any recommendations on where to order it?

Wlaurent is experienced in alarm installs and it still took us a while to get this module connected, about 5 hours for the first install. Part of it was locating the proper wires to connect to the module and the other was where to put the brain, the valet switch, the led, the motion sensor, the siren, etc..

The second install took about an hour and a half to do.

Wlaurent may be making this more of a plug and play installation, adding adaptors like Honda's alarm harness to offer through S2KI.com. We have pictures of everything so he can make available for the kit. You need to make a minimum of seven connections to make the product work, so there are more than just the keyless entry connections.

He has a reseller's license and I can get most anything for wholesale through my company's replacement program so we got the stuff for a great price. $360+ installed sounds right for this or any other DEI alarm with these features.

As walkabt noted - I am working on a detailed instruction manual and am looking at kitting the alarm as a plug-in product.

I am on vacation in Ecuador Oct 26 - Nov 11 (which is from where I am writing this message on a painfully slow internet connection), and will be getting back to the manual upon my return.
