Alarm recommendations?
Just got a new 2005 Rio Yellow S2K and I want to get an alarm for it so it stays "mine" and in one piece. I thought about the factory alarm but ussually they are over priced and not as good as after-market.
Does anyone have any recommendations? What brand? What options? etc..... I don't live in a bad neighborhood or anything and generally the S2k will sleep at night in the garage....
I saw a reference to a previous alarm thread, but couldn't find it.....
Your input is apprecaited!

I also have a compustar with remote start and lcd pager, it's a great alarm system and one of the best out there. Forget about the factory alarm, I've learned that you can kill any factory alarm with a big enough magnet. All you have to do is move it all over the hood, chances are you'll hit the spot where the factory alarm box is at and it'll kill it for good. That's it, no more alarm...
I also have a Compustar alarm: the 2-Way SS. The remote works 1-2 miles away depending on environmental factors... which is awesome when you are eating at a restaurant or at the mall.
I got Compustar because I read that DEI alarms (clifford, viper, and many other popular brands) can be deactivated somehow with a cell phone. I didn't know if this was fact or fiction but didnt want to take a chance... so I got the Compustar instead.
I love the alarm. The only complaint I would have would be the design of remote. The clifford/viper 2-way remotes look a little cooler.

with what you'd said, that's what I've heard too about them alarm system being deactivated with a nokia cell phone. My bro owns a 4th gen Vtec Lude with the stock H22a1 engine and had a Python remote paging alarm system installed and it's now dead for some odd reasons, it's kind of weird. Compustar kicks ass, I got the 2WFM model...

Thanks for all of the responses..... So the G5 will allow remote start on a manual? I've never heard of that.... I'm not in a big hurry to get an alarm so maybe I'll wait till June.... Any idea what it will cost installed?
The Compustar with the transponder module will allow remote start too. You just have to follow their process for shutting off the car, so that the brain knows your not in gear. Watched an installer put one in my friend's S over the weekend. Works really well.
