Default Alphasonik PCT6501 Components

Ive done some searching, and it seems that people have good things to say about Alphasonik subs and amps. I havent been able to find anything about their component systems however. Does anyone have any experience with these speakers?

Heres my situation. I ordered a set of Diamond Audio M661's online (The cost savings was worth more than the manufacturers warranty in my opinion). Unfortunately one of the midrange drivers was defective. I still installed the working speakers to get an idea of the sound. I thought they sounded amazing. For reference they were getting 160 RMS per channel. I returned the speakers to have them exchanged, but have now been told from the retailer that they do not have any more in stock and do not know when they will be getting more in. I checked the Diamond Audio website and it has changed since I originally viewed it, and the M661's are no longer listed in the product section. This leads me to believe they have been discontinued. Can anyone confirm? Anyway I have been given the option to cancel my order on the Diamonds. I began searching for other component systems last night. I came across the Alphasoniks and was attracted due to:

1. The low price, almost half of what I payed for the Diamonds
2. The name, having seen Alphasonik subs mentioned highly on this site
3. The high power handling of 200W RMS

What do you guys think of the Diamonds vs. Alphasonik. With power handling of 200W RMS I can give them all my amp has. I think sound level is almost more important than sound quality in our car due to road noise, regardless if the top is up or down. I think the Diamonds were almost a waste, as I could only really hear how good they sounded when the car wasnt moving.

I like those Diamonds. I haven't yet heard the Alphasonik's, but Dave might have. Can your dealer get you a different set of high end Diamonds to replace them with?

The only ones I have heard are the PCT6501, which sounded very nice. THey are crisp, and very tough (cone is very strong)

I was actually thinking about switching over to the PCT6551....

They come with a 6.5" woofers, 5.25 mid drivers, and tweeters. Ill keep the tweeters from my kappas, add the 5.25s in the rear, and the 6.5s up front.

I would give them a listen....Diamond is a little overpriced IMHO, although they are good.

Thank you for the replies.

Darkknight - The online retailer I'm working with carries the Diamond Hex series, but for $100 more I dont think I want to go that way. I think the quality of the mid range M661's I had was almost a waste in our car. I think the Hex series would definitely be overkill, as far as sound quality is concerned, at least for what I plan to use the stereo for. I'm not trying to build a competition level system, just something that sounds loud and clear with the top down. I imagine I could wait for the new Diamond series to come in, but the price of the Alphasonik's is what really caught my eye. This price is from an online retailer again, but the savings is worth alot more to me than the year warranty.

Dave - Thanks for the review. You guys have given me enough info to justify giving the Alphasonik's a try. Thanks again for your input.

Those are nice looking Dave. I would keep them together though as it might sound a little weird if you split them up. You should put them all in the door

Where would I put the 5.25s???

Remember John, car is a lease, cant cut up my doors....I am probably keeping the car, but just dont want to be forced into it.

You really think theyll sound a little off?

Just a note.....www.onlinecarstereo.com

has them for $219!!!!

Thats with the 6.5s, 5.25s, crossovers, and tweeters.....not too bad if you ask me.
