alpine 9831 vs. 9835

alpine 9831 vs. 9835
demo'd both last weekend. 9835 sounded clearer.
cartoy dude said there are only 2 differences: 9835 has 24 bit DAC vs. 1 bit for 9831 and 9835 reads CD title and track info to the display on "any" CD, CDR etc but 9831 only reads this on a factory CD.
I can't confirm either statement from the specs at alpine1.
Can anybody help?
