Alpine 9853 v.s. 9857
hey guys there is an opportunity to buy an alpine 9857 for 320 canadian...and i have a 9853 which isnt installed yet..i was just wondering which would be a better deck.
i think both have the same tuning capabilities...like equaliser time correction and whatever the stuff is......
i researched the 9857 and it looks like it has:
2V pre outs
50 Watts X 4.....
looks like the 9857 does not have a motorized face either(no tilt???)...is this better i guess !?!?...does it jus flip down with a button??
and the biolite...is it easy to see at night...
i know there is a bunch of topics about the 9857 already i just wanted to know if i should stick wit my 9853 or get the new 9857.
i just need some of your guys' opinions on these two decks....
thx in advance.

iirc, the big thing i hated about the 9853 was that goofy touch slide controls. if you love it, you love it. if not, you'll hate it.
i'm quite pleased w/ my 9833, even though i had to track it down and buy it off of a demo wall (i hate the touch slide controls).
for the most part, aside from the output voltage, they are very similar HU's.

ive been hearing a lot of people saying the glidetouch isnt that bad....some say they didnt know there was a little blackstrip that you have to run your finger across at the same time as the white strip...and ive heard that its sensitive or something...i will have to think about which one to get..but thx for the help....im definitely going to have trouble tuning either one.
I really like the biolite displays. The 9853's dot matrix diplay isn't as bad as the other more "Digital" displays. Never got used to how the "unlit" portions of the display was never black... no matter how much I adjusted the tilt or contrast, the unlit portion of the display always had some light to it... Manually hitting the "Title" button to switch between the songname, artist and channel name in XM mode was a pain also...
Biolite doesn't really need the motorized faceplate to be seen properly and the double line, though not as flexible as I'd like, is nice. Also really like the wired steering wheel control capabilities... but more or less a wash if you decide to go with an IR DCI.
Never used the glide bar so no opinion on that... Otherwise the two seem pretty similar in specs.
