I believe the color-changing option is called iPersonalize. I think you rip a CD off your computer with the settings (from a designated site), and transfer them to your HU.

iPersonalize is for custom timing correction. It has nothing to do with face-plate color.

iPersonalize has to do with tuning. You can go to alpines web site and they have all the software built in. You can adjust crossover, time correction, eq, and opening greeting then burn your settings to a disk and upload them to your HU

, but I thought that the lighting was a portion of iPersonalize. It think the sound tuning parameter is only part of it. Not sure, though.

So guys, I'm still confused, will I be able to use the wired DCI on my 9857?
As Colin pointed out the unit is "steering wheel remote ready." I'm assuming that the DCI plugs into that.

Thanks!

^ Contact modifry. The wired one he had plugs into the 3.5mm jack in the back. Dunno if it will work on the new HU's. Chances are it will, but I would still contact him. If it does not work, he can program it to work, he just needs the remote and a little time.

Just a heads up for anyone wanting the CDA-9857. I emailed crutchfield about this stereo a while back and you can preorder it. Just view your shopping cart, then where it says add items from your catalog, enter the following 500CDA9857. It says estimated arrival date is 3/10/2006. Price is $349.99.
Thanks, I just loaded one into my cart. The "full speed" cable has to be purchased seperately, right? Do you have the number of the cable?
