Alpine 9886 vs 9887 debate
So I thought I knew what I wanted then threads about new units came up and people are talking about the 9886 and 9887 and now I can't decide which one to go with. How bout we just put all the details in this thread. What are pros/ cons of 9886 over 9887, What are pros/cons of 9887 over 9886. We all know price is already different so lets not talk about that.
Whats the deal with imprint, do they both have it? none have it? they both need extra units from alpine for imprint? time correction?
Whatever I keep I'm selling the other.

If you go to Alpines web site, here's where the differences come into play...

Equalizer: Built-In Graphic/Parametric Equilizer -- 5 Band Graphic / 7 Band Parametric Equilizer Ready (PXA-H100 Required)

IMPRINT: IMPRINT Sound with MultEQ Acoustic Correction (KTX-100EQ) -- IMPRINT Sound System Ready (PXA-H100 Required)

IMHO the media expander sux... distorts the quality, makes the music sound unnatural. But again, that's just my ears and my opinion. I like the idea of imprint, but I wonder how well it works with a car like ours. Is the gain received enough to notice for an extra $250 to my the hardware or about $50 for a shop to tune with their hardware? All though this will then enable the bass and treble adjustments. The equalizers are a NICE plus... can't go wrong there. For the 9886 you need the PXA-H100 which is $150 from crutchfield.... might as well have bought the 9887.
