Default Alpine 9887

I just installed this HU last week. Everything works fine but I was wondering if it's normal that HU buttons stay lit no matter if car's lights are turned off. When I turn my headlights on I do notice the HU display gets a bit dimmer and nothing happens to the button lights. And when I turn off my parking lights/headlights, the button lights stay lit.

So there's no way to get the button illumination to turn off during the daytime when headlights are off?

Alpine has the illumination on whenever the head unit is on, and then it dims when the lights are turned on. Turning the radio off is the only way.

Or, shut the door then it doesn't matter.

I've been researching this HU and found it has red and orange and red (but not straight orange) illumination options, and I guess the BioLite display is always going to be black and white. Anyway could some please post up a pic of the red and orange and red displays? I've searched the internets and not found any good ones. Thanks

red and orange matches the stock dash lights really well.

SlowTeg - thanks very much for the video.
rice-CHRISpies - yep that's been my #1 priority for a replacement pretty much. I think I'm sold. Thanks both.

NP, you're welcome. Like rice said, red/orange matches well. I have a 9887 as well, and it fits nicely with the dash lighting, which is a big reason why I got it (having a radio that has blue/green illumination would be too ugly for me to stand at night).
