Default Alpine CDA-9586 + Alpine Type S Components

Just got this in last night. On the way over to get them installed, I had the music in full blast, centered bass and treble, top down cruisin' around 70-75mph, with a good 30 degree weather. Sound was not that pronounced at all. Jumped on this setup 9856 + type s components and boy do I hear a huge difference. I know it's going from stock to alpine but still. I never would of thought sound from an S2000, topdown @ 75mph could sound so good. Nonetheless, that wasn't even full blast. I'm actually scared to see what full blast was and probably won't even do it. If you have money to spare, I would recommend upgrading your door speakers and headunit. IMO you don't really need rear speakers. Just get a good set of door components with a nice HU and you'll be fine (advice I took from Spankee) and he was right!

Cliff Notes:

Stock Stereo -> CDA-9856 + Type S Door Compenents

Awesome sound with top down @ 75mph

Good door components + good HU = no need for rear speakers

Thanks Spankee and Poindexter

No problem Carlo. Hopefully John took good care of you. Now you need some added tweeters for added highs ......and a good amp.

So. It sounds like the components are getting good power off just the head unit?

I'm upgrading my system this spring and am looking at options. My current plans call for adding an amp to power the new components. Would you suggest it's not necessary?

Yes, the Modifry. Per the related thread, we're trying to verify whether you use the direct connect or the IR version.

The 9856 needs the IR version.

correct, there is no plug in the back.

golfpro: As a non-electronics Junkie, I'm a lot happier with what I got now (without amp) and don't see myself adding an amp quite yet.

I ordered this same setup from Crutchfield because of all the positive talk on this forum.

I forgot to ask one queston.Our interior lights are amber but the Alpine lights up blue right?Can you change the HU color and if not does it look out of place?Just curious.

i'm on the verge of buying the 9856 myself, and the sales associate said that blue was the only color display option on this head unit... i think it will look good in combo with the amber...
