Default Alpine CDA-9855

i just went out and bought a new head unit for my car, the cda 9855. i would have to say the head unit is bad ass. it actually has many useful options unlike most radios now days....where the "look" is most important. i just wanted to post this up for anyone that is looking for a very good head unit that sounds awesome! also the "Glide Touch"is really cool. just go to your near by retailer and check it out. i promise you wont be dissapointed.

-i havent had the time to hook it up to the OEM controls, but it even has the options to work with our radio controls

here are some specs: http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_i...ry=20&p_main=10

How exactly does it interface with the dash controls? Is there an adapter or wiring harness involved?

I've just bought the same unit! Good option is to split the wires to tweaters to be able to use the sound options functions. The interface is standard Alpine, and allows existing basic functions as before from dash remote. Also the face tilts so you can see it really well without bending forward. I also bought Alpine's ipod connector which allows the ipod to be controlled from the face unit and charges the ipod while on the move!

There is a jack on the back that looks like a headphone jack. There is an alpine interface box and harness (which unfortunately isnt sold in the USA) which lets you use the dash controls.

I have this setup on my car.

Where did you buy this interface box? I'd be interested in hooking it up in my car as well. Any reason it's not sold in the US?

I bought a european head unit and this box a few years ago. I think it came from the UK. I wanted to upgrade the radio and I was able to reuse the box. I think the part number is KCE(or KCA)865
