Default Alpine Components?

Went to my local Alpine dealer yesterday and listened to the new Alpine Type R 6" components. They sound awesome, but the dealer had no idea if they would fit in my MY01. Has anyone retrofitted these in a S2k? If so, any tips? How do they sound? Is there a better component set to go with? Do you have them amped? If so, which amp?

thanks!

check out the S2000 Electronics FAQ. there's a link in there to exact available dimensions for depth and size for speakers.

bring that to your dealer. if he needs more than that, he's not competent and you should go elsewhere.

Yea, I've done stereo stuff for years, and I could tell this guy had no idea (for the most part) what he was talking about. I wouldn't let anyone else besides myself install them anyhow, I just wanted to hear them. =)

They will fit in the doors. You'll have to have them cut the tweeters into your doors. I have the Alpine SPX-177a's in my door and they fit. You do need a spacer or just cut the back of the basket out.

Thats kinda what I figured I'd end up having to do... did you flush mount your tweeters?

PM "Rollingaudio", he installed the type R components in my doors and my s-pods. You will need to use a spacer, or trim a little metal from the door to get them to fit, but they do sound nice!

As far as an amp, I'm using the Alpine MRV-F450 to drive the two sets of components, and a 10" Type R Sub.
