Default Alpine Door Speakers??? Need HELP.

Okay, I'm looking at replacing the stock door speakers with some sort of component system. I'll probably mount the tweeters in the pillars. I'm not looking at spending a fortune since I'd rather drop the top and just listent to the car BUT you gotta have tunes at times.

I've looked and like the Boston Acoustics ProSeries 6.5s BUT now we're talking serious bucks AND you really should buy an amp on top of that. I can get Alpine at near cost but I can't get BA.

Can anyone recommend a particular series of Alpines for the cause? OR, am I wasting my time, Alpine sucks in comparision and I should spend a grand for the 6.5s and a JL amp?

If this helps, I listen to nearly every type of music. Actually, talk radio in the a.m. and then everything from Eminem to the Eagles, Skynard to Creed, Buffet to No Doubt, etc., etc. I need something flexible with a tad of bottom in considering it's in the car. I don't like "tinny" tweeters either.

Thanks for the help!

If you don't amp, look for very efficient speakers that do well at low power. The new Kenwood dual mags had a lot more volume for the same input than anything I heard, and they are incredibly light. Check out Ikesound.com.

Focal speakers offer product lines that are more expensive than BA. However, they are much better. You can buy them off of ebay. Here is a link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&item=801605765

This is their middle of the road line. I would get these over top of the line BAs. If you have never bought off of ebay before, then register on ebay. Before bidding, wait until a few minutes before the auction close to bid. When you bid, enter the highest price you are willing to pay. It does not mean you will pay that price, but you want to ensure that you win the item too.

Also, I am currently using car audio components in my S that I have purchased from this same seller with no problems and fast delivery.

hmm, if you're not going to buy from an authorized dealer (and there are no authorized focal net dealers) then try onlinecarstereo.com, they have the Focal 165Ks for 299 shipped (only $30 more then the current price in that ebay auction). I picked up the same focals from these guys, service was fine.

they also have a ton of other stuff at pretty good prices.
