FWIW: remove faceplate and reset headunit by pressing deep set button (looks liek a hole) with a pin or paperclip. did the trick.

You were lucky.....Alpine has been having some problems with this recently. My 9851 froze up with the CD inside. Had to mail it back and have them fix it. luckily I still had my OEM radio.

Sweet!

Did you figure it out yourself or did Alpine help out?

Yeah John your right about that. They have had this problem... not real bad but often enough that people talk about it

Thanks for posting the solution! I have the same model and now I'll know what to do if it happens to me.

Most motorized units have the same kind of reset button. This trick will also work on Kenwood units (probably on others, but I've had to do it on a couple of the kenwood flip faces back in the day).

Glad to see you got it out!

Its in the manual if you got one. Never happened to be before, but yeah, the reset should always do the trick.
