Try these guys, they are authorized Alpine Internet dealers. http://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=ALPCDA9886 If you call them and send them the cheapest link they will beat the price.I bought my Yamaha A/V receiver from them.Good service and they beat the best price I found on the net.

the IDA series is the only HU (Alpine at least, and I think of any brand) that connects to the iPod via a digital connection, so the digitial bitstream is sent to the HU's (Burr Brown in this case) D/A converter, rather than every other HU using an analog output that uses the iPod's internal DAC. the digital connection is also faster, and the interface/control/display is far superior.

I'm with Philbert. I love my Alpine iDA-x305. iPod interface is great! Find a local dealer and go plug your iPod in for a test drive. That's what sold me.

I'm also looking for a new headunit to replace the CDA-9813 that came with the car. My setup: new Alpine R doorspeakers, and two 6.5" kenwoods are behind the seats. I installed an Arc Audio 12" sub w/Alpine amp in a box in the jack/spare tools compartment. What do you guys suggest? The current unit's crossover is a total POS, and i'm looking for iPod control. thx.

you didn't mention an amp for your Type-R components and rear speakers. are you running them off the headunit? if so, i'd suggest an amp before replacing the HU. when you say the crossover is no good, what are you looking to do?

I bought the car 3 wks ago, and it came with an Eclipse 3520 amp that is powering the speakers...

I'm not sure how the speakers are wired since the rear speakers were added by the previous owner, and when i had the HU out to attach an aux cable for my iPod, I realized that only the preouts for the front speakers were 'wired up' so im assuming those are running to the amp. But as for the rear speakers behind the seat, I dont know how /where they are wired in to. I do know the last time i checked the bal/fade feature, when you move the fader all the way forward, there is no sound coming out of my doorspeakers.

Basically, on the HU I have the Sub vol maxxed out, and there's no bass being produced. When the car's running tonight I did check the amp, and the power light was kinda flickering along with the music-I have the remote wire running off of the remote wire going to the little eclipse amp.
