Default Alpine Headunits and Auto-Dimming Question

Okay, so in the menu on my Alpine HU (CDA-9835), there's an option for autodimming the display when the headlights are turned on. This is an excellent feature I really like. However, when it dims, it dims too dark. Even in the dead of night sometimes the display is more difficult to read, and I really want to turn the brightness up just a bit.

In the manual, it talks about autodimming, and if you turn it off, it's always dim. My question is, is there a way to adjust the brightness manually? It honestly doesn't tell you how to in the book if it does.

It's really weird. Probably has to do with the Biolite display, but there has got to be a way to adjust the brightness.

Thanks Dave though.

cant you just NOT hook up the 'dimmer' wire from the hu? It should stay bright all the time, no?

Yes, but it's daytime brightness is WAY too bright.

Besides, it has the option to auto dim, but when that's off it's always just really dim. I can't imagine that such an advanced piece of technology wouldn't have brightness control on it.

Yes, I know I close the radio door. That's not the point either.

And the tilt interferes with the radio door, but the tilt is useless with the top down anyways.

Mine seems fine at night and day. I dont think I have my auto dimmer on.

My biggest complaint is that you can change display to just about any color visible by the human eye, but you cant change the head unit off of military time
