Default Alpine HU and XM?

I have an Alpine 9835 going into my S. I am in the process of purchasing what I need to get XM operational in my vehicle, but I am bit confused. ALPINE's receiver has been discontinued for XM. What alternatives can I utilize that do not use FM Modulation. I cant seem to find any up to date info for XM. Sirius does have a receiver that attaches to the AI net on the alpine but I would rather go with XM. Thanks for the help.

Hi: You could use the method that I and others have employed. Buy either the Delfi Sky Fi or better the Rodie. Then go into the Hu using the AI addapter into the Aux input. The disadvantage is that you will have to control the XM reception wia a reciever / control mounted on the dash instead of using the XM controls inside the HU. The advantage is you can use the reciever (and suscription) elseware like I do.
I think there was some discussion about a third party manufacturer that made an AI buss reciever But as I had already installed my XM I did not pay any attention.

Well I prefer to not have a separate receiver for the XM. I want to be able to use the Alpine to control the receiver. I want a clean look uncluttered look. I see that xm is supposed to be coming out with an Alpine Receiver in November.

Welcome to waiting. I have been waiting for them to release the ALPXMD100 for 6 weeks. They showed an October release, but just changed it to November several days ago. If only I would switch to Sirius I am sure the XM addapter would be released the next day.

Oh no. I dont see any Sirius alternative out either, the only one I see is due out in November as well. I would rather wait for the XM unit to come out. Is the ALPXMD100 unit going to connect via the AI net port?

The sirius unit is out and connects to the AI net cable. I think you can find it at the sirius website or at crutchfield.

As far as the alpine unit goes, it will integrate into the AI net port but, like the others, I've been waiting forever. It's been delayed and delayed since early this year. However, the XM direct units for sony, pioneer and kenwood are already out so I'm sure Alpine will be close behinde. Please say we don't have to go past November!

Actually on crutchfield, the sirius unit is not available until november 20, you can reserve it now though. Now i hope the XM unit is like the Sirius one when it comes out, its all included, where as the current xm unit crutchfield carries you have to get the adapter which is another $50 (for the kenwood, pioneer, and sony). The sirius unit has an AI net cable included. I hope we dont have to wait much longer.

I had the same issue when I first got my 9835. Went online and found a slightly used Alpine XM receiver on Ebay and had it nicely tucked under the driver's seat.
Works flawless.
