Alpine Install Question (quick)...
Hey guys,
I have a quick question for you all. Is the plastic trim piece that surrounds the faceplate suppose to be pretty lose and flimsy?
I recently just purchased an S2000. The previous owner installed an Alpine CDA-150 HU. Although it looks like he did a pretty fantastic job, I was wondering about the plastic trim piece that surrounds the faceplate. It seems pretty loose and easy to come off. I've checked the clips on this piece and they look fine from what I can tell. It clips to the top of the radio barely and not to the bottom at all. Is this normal? I know he didn't use the Alpine supplied mounting sleeve.
Thanks guys/gals for any help.

I pulled mine while at Homecoming II to have it signed by Uehara-san and it was so tight I thought that I was going to break it. I just took it off again to put in my new HU and the same thing. It should be super-hard to remove based on my experience and on comments I have seen posted on the Forums. I have a 2008 and I don't think it should be much different save the actual door design.

I'm sure Alpine's support can confirm for you. A car audio forum with more traffic would probably yield better responses. There are only so many S owners here with that specific head unit and the S wouldn't really affect how that trim piece clips on.
If you are concerned about your trim ring, why not purchase another? You can obtain the part number from PAC Parts and then see if you can find a better price elsewhere.
