How come I've seen this stuff selling for like $80 in the for sale section but Best Buy has it for $30? What's the deal yo?

It wasn't the exact one...it was a 420 something or other. I don't know much about the Alpines w/ Ipods. What's the difference between the 420 and the one I linked to at Best Buy?

420 is a module made for the old ipod headunits, before the full speed technology came out. The 420 has been replaced by a cable (422).

The 422 cannot be used on any unit that is NOT Alpine FullSpeed capable. 420 can be used on ANY alpine unit with Ai-Net input (CDA models).

I just ordered this cable for use with the 7883 that I ordered.

I have a newer Kenwood head unit that uses the larger cable + box iPod setup in my truck. I hear talk online that this type of setup is "slow." I never found it to be slow in the least so I am really interested in what this Alpine setup does.

Can anyone confirm that the cable is long enough to route back into the secret compartment?

The Alpine Full Speed cable is long enough to route to the center console/secret Comp. and have slack. Hope that helps!

Thanks! That is exactly what I wanted to know! Did anyone use a gromet or anything else where the wire penetrates into the console/compartment?
