Default alpine PDX-V9 amp overheating?

So I went on a road trip to Boise last weekend to go to import revolution (4hours each way) 90° weather. Drive there top down stereo up 85% pretty much the whole way, drive back same thing but about 3 hours into the drive the amp started to cut out out (im assuming the amp because it powers the speakers and sub so all the sound was cutting out completely) I turned it down to say 50% for a few minutes cause I was thinking it just might be to hot, well cutting out stops out stops turn it back up a bit and starts to do it again, so I just basically left it down for remainder of the drive (irritating) well I drove my other car for a the next few days no biggie, I get in to go to work yesterday morning (still cool out) no problems well I leave work in the afternoon 91° out and it immediately starts cutting out but worse this time barely even turned up say 40% so now im thinking something is wrong cause it got worse, head to gym same thing, leave gym been in covered parking for 2 hours so it cooled down a bit turned it up for a few minutes after checking all the connections etc starts to cut out again, this morning on my way to work (nice and cool out) I turn it way up to see if it was from the heat again well after a few minutes it cut out like 3 times (still not normal) but wasn't cutting out basically non stop like it was in the afternoon so niw im wondering if the amp is toast? Or why it would all of a sudden start having this problem? While system is less then a year old and its all nice alpine audio other then the 80prs head unit, any suggestions or anybody with this amp had the same issue?

I would check all of the wiring, especially the grounds. Hopefully that's it. This week, my 19 yr. old PPI A-404 amp was doing the same thing. Probably a bad capacitor inside. I was so happy because it gave me a reason to go buy a true monoblock amp, a JL Audio 600/1V3 for my 10W6V2! I still have another PPI A-404 and A-200 for my Focals.
Good Luck

Go onto the diyma.com forum and read up on these amps. From what I read, the older pdx amps had a problem of getting too hot with same symptoms.
