Default Alpine Screen

Would intallation of an alpine screen be possible, and would it hit the shifter when if folded out?

It will hit the dash when it rotates up. You would need to mount it in the dash. There is an S around here that mounted it in the dash and a 6 disc in the factory spot. Bonus...you can get a nav system.

AGoodbar,

Here you go:

The IVA-C800 (and my CVA-1005 for that matter) would definitely hit the shifter if it were mounted in the stock location...

Another ccol note... the dash controls work (and are hard-wired)

I paid the following hardware costs:

Alpine
IVA-C800 $1600
ERA-G320 $300
CHA-S624 $300
NVA-851A $1800
MRV-1507 $500 x 2 = $1000
SEC-8081 $300
KCE-865B (dash control to head unit adapter) $100

Dynaudio
System 340 $1200

Boston Acoustics
ProSeries LF10 $340

Phoenix Gold
Wire + interconnects $500

Alumapro

The C.A.P 5 Farad $300

Installation: Priceless
For everything else, there's MasterCard...

Seriously, with all the installation work I did, I'm sure costs of custom fiberglass fabrication, dash removal, etc... would total many thousands of dollars...

My personal total cost: ~$8000

Shaner, for what its worth, as I struggled to thread wires through the door grommets today, I kept saying to myself, "Think of what Shane has done. Think of what Shane has done. Certainly you can do this tiny bit of wiring."

You are an inspiration!

Hey shaner,
Is there more space behind where the screen unit is?
Just wondering is you can actually sink it in more and put a false door or something in front for concealment.

socal,

No more space... as it is with that pictured install, I had to remold some of the plastic ductwork due to the intrusion of the headunit... my new install has a fiberglass "chasis" that holds the head a little more outside the dash... thus giving the ductwork a little more room...
