Alpine system
I kno theres tons of new install threads, ive probably read through all of em and finally understand what i need.
I just want opinions on my build, see if i can change things around. I want to keep budget around 2000-2500. Full dynamat.
Alpine PDX-1.600
Alpine PDX-2.150
Alpine CDA-9885
Alpine SPR-17S
Alpine SWR-1022D
Alpine SWR-1042D
Whats the difference b/w 4 ohm and 2 ohm for the sub?
Im more than willing to switch out brands, i just want the best sound.

oh and the OHMs is the resistance rating , depending on what amp you go with will match up the sub the best.
But those are both dual voice coil subs, so to get a 2ohm load, you'd want the dual 4ohm sub, wiring the VCs in parallel. otherwise, if you wanted a 4ohm load, you'd want the dual 2ohm, wiring in series.
I've read in magazine reviews that the PDX subs do in fact produce more than stated power at 2ohms, but I question why Alpine would put in the product descriptions on the website that:

PDX amps produce the same amount of power into both 2ohm and 4ohm so they will get the most from your subwoofers in almost any situation.

PDX amps will... it has the same techniolgy as the JL slash series amps with the R.I.P.S. tech... regulated internal power supply... meaning that between 1.5ohm to 4ohms it puts out the same power... PDX has a type of the same technology but 2ohm for the PDX will be better , although at 4 ohm the amp will run cooler.
i just had a better sound test for those type r's. they dont sound great at all. thinking bout going with MB Quartz instead now, will have to goto some shops and listen to em
