Default Alum vs Silk dome tweeters

EDIT:

Need to do a bit more research to find better examples than these and a more in-depth write up.

Isn't the arrow pointing at around 28000Hz? Its been awhile since I played with log scales but I thought the first dotted line after 10000Hz would be 20000Hz and the next would be 30000Hz.

You're right. Good call. Wasn't even thinking properly when I looked at the frequencies.

Corrected the first post.

Thanks

does the frequency response > 20 kHz matter?
from Wikipedia, "The human ear can nominally hear sounds in the range
20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (20 kHz). This upper limit tends to decrease with age,
most adults being unable to hear above 16 kHz."
from this chart it appears that no instruments play greater than about 16kHz:

That's true, most people can't hear the 28Khz fluctuation.

But note that the LPG tweeter freq response chart (2nd chart) shows a spike at around 20Khz (right at the end of the chart) while the THD chart shows the distortion is at around 15Khz, which is most definitely audible.

Let's just put it this way: The freq response charts indicate that there is a resonance. The THD chart shows us what freq the resonance causes distortion to appear at.

Edit: I probably should have left the freq response charts out of the original post and simply used the THD chart...however, I couldn't find THD charts for the SEAS tweets.
