Default AMP PLACEMENT

wassup fellas,

I was looking for a place to put my amp. I was going to put it on the floor on the passenger side, but I am afraid with all the foot traffic, they would kick the wires or something. My next solution is above the tank, next to the spare tire. I wanted to know if there are any safety issues(electricity above fuel). Are there other places to put the amp? It will not fit under the seat. What about where the tools are in the trunk?

Mine are in the trunk where the spare goes, I removed my spare tire a few years back.

Many people have amps above the gas tank. There are no issues with electricity above the fuel
tank - there's an electric fuel pump IN your tank!
Because that area is tight, not all amps will fit, and some might overheat.
If you do a Google search for "amp gas tank site:s2ki.com" you'll find lots of info.

I put my amp under the soft top cover, above the fuel tank - on the drivers side. It has been there for over 4 years and no issues.

I did not want to loose my spare tire. This past winter I decided to add an small sub to fill out the sound. I did not want to loose any of the very limited trunk space so I looked at the spare tire area. I decided that between my AAA membership and a Fix an Flat kit (including small air compressor - $18 at Walmart) is a much better option than depending on a 12 year old spare tire that has an unknown shelf life. Long story short - spare tire is sitting in the garage and a small sub is located in it's place.

If you get the right amp it will fit nicely in the center of the spare. I've got an Arc Audio KS125.4 Mini sitting on carpet covered mdf that is cut to sit inside the rim of the spare.

I have a sub box made to fit in the tool well and I just screwed the amp to the box as I dont put alot of stuff back there. For my components I had the amp under the driver seat.

I have a small Rockford Fosgate amp over my tank and have no issues at all. I preferred to put an amp there because it's just dead space otherwise.

I've had amps above the fuel tank for years now. See my signature for some photos.
