Default Amp went into protection mode

I searched through this forum but didn't find the answers I needed.
I reset my ecu by unplugging the battery, and after i reconnected it, there is absolutely no sound coming from the speakers. The HU (alpine model) works fine, plays cd's and whatever, but there's no sound. I looked at the amp, and the protection light is on. I checked the fuse on the amp and the fuse in the engine bay connected to the power wire, and they're both fine. I checked the connection on the battery, the ground wire, and the remote wire, and they're all good. The amp is an Audiobahn AT4002T or something like that. Does anyone know what I can do? I've been driving around with no music for a few weeks now. Please help EJ's!

The protection light usually means there is an over-current condition (short on speaker wires or severely over-driven) or the amp is over-heated. I think we can rule out over-heating but perhaps the amp is finicky about the power-up sequence.

I'd suggest:

1. Remove +12v power from the amp, disconnect the turn-on lead, then re-connect power and see if the protection light is still on.
If it is then do:
2. Remove +12v power from the amp, disconnect speaker wires at the amp, then re-connect power and see if the protection light is still on.

Thank you, I will try this and report back.

I was aiming more towards the overheating issue, but if it does it right off the bat it has to be something else. I would be hesitant to say its a current issue if his fuses are fine... Wouldnt one of them have blown (if they are appropriately sized) before the surge hits the amp? I guess it could work if it is downstream from the amp (speaker wires)...

Is there another fuse that I may not have checked? I checked the fuse on the amp and the fuse in the engine bay on the power wire. Is there another one in the fuse box or something?

Your problem sounds like a grounded out speaker. There are multiple ways for an amplifier to go in protection mode. The options are as follows: grounded out or severely blown speaker, overheating, input issue or blown amplifier. It really could be a blown amplifier as well. The easiest way to test... Start by turning on your system. You should get no sound at all at this point. Then start by disconnecting one speaker at a time at the amplifier. Wait about 10 - 15 seconds before reconnecting because the amplifier has to reset. If you don't hear anything then reconnect that speaker and move to the next and repeat. If you do that and it still doesn't work, turn off the system and disconnect all the speakers from the amp. Then power it up. Check to see if it is still in protect mode. If it is turn it off and disconnect the RCA leads. Power it up again...at this point there should only be 3 wire connected to your amp...power, ground, and remote. If the protect light is still on check your ground, power and remote leads to make sure that there is proper voltage. 12.4 roughly with the vehicle off and around 14.2 with the vehicle on on them power wire. Roughly 12-13 at the remote wire. And triple-check your ground. If you do all of this and your amp is still in protect...go shopping. But have it bench tested at a local shop before you fork out money for a new amp just to be certain. Hope this helps. If you have any questions about this post because it is kind of technical feel free to e-mail me.
