Thumbs up Which amp would you recommend

I was looking for an amp to run a 10" sub I have it's a MA audio Comp XL1000 500watts RMS and 1000watts peak power. I have some I' currently looking at on ebay. I have listed them below, any input on this situation would be greatly appreciated. I want alot of bass, I want it to hit hard!!!

JBL AMP

Kenwood Amp #1

Kenwood Amp #2

Power Acoustik

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to stay clos to $100 or cheaper. I know that sucks, that's also why I was looking on ebay. I'm a cheapo since my last system was stolen

Im sure any of them would work, But have you considered a Rockford Fosgate Punch 75 or a JL Audio 500/1.

The problem is is that the $100 price point you may not get a quality amp unless it is used.

Good luck!

On those choices! I've had OK quality from Kenwood amps but not all Watts are created equally. And that's especially true in Kenwood's case. Just save up some more money.

what do you mean not all watts are created equally? a watt is a watt. it is a unit of measurement.

Yes that is true. I just meant some brands are a little more generous with their ratings than others...

Not really....

Compare a Kenwood amp that is rated at 75 watts and a Rockford amp rated at 75 watts, the RF will produce more power with a lower THD. There is no standard for wattage ratings in amplifiers (unlike HP ratings)...

I had an Orion GS100 installed in my car, it produced 100 watts at 4ohm, however at 1/2ohm it produced about 900watts, but they rated it at a 100 watt amp

seriously...??? youre talking about amp ratings, not watts.

lets see here... can you explain how THD has any affect on wattage power? anything less than .1 is barely, if not even, audible by the human ear.

are you saying that 900 watts from your orion is more powerful than any other amp that puts out 900 watts? we are not talking about rated power. what i am saying is, if you bench 2 amps and both have equal amount of watts. how is either amp more powerful?
1/2 ohm stable or not, 900 watts is 900 watts.

you are getting confused with power ratings.

Rated power is exactly what is being addressed.

not all Watts are created equally.
Actually, if the brand is CEA-2006 compliant (which I think Kenwood is), all wattages are the same. This only applies to the "represented" wattage ratings. The amps can produce more than represented (Alpine being an example....Pikkashoe's MRV-F545 was "rated" at 125wrms, but bench tested at 179wrms), but they cannot produce less than what is advertised. It standardized the method of measuring a "watt."

That JBL is suspect. In the item description, it states that it produces 500Wx2 @ 4-ohms, then right below that states 65Wx2 @4-ohms. Which is correct? Going from 65-500watts is a big jump, even it the 500 is a represented bridge figure.

I would stay away from the Kenwood #2, as it is "factory refurbished." That means it was a defective product, and was "fixed."

And I have never been a fan of Power Acoustik. Just does not sound good to me, but that is personal preference.

I am getting a Hifoncs Titan 8800 next week. It is a 4-channel amp that puts out 110wrmsx4 @ 4-ohms. You can bridge channels 3/4 to get 440wrms for a sub if you want (that is what I am doing). You can pick one up from www.sonicelectronix.com for $149. I have heard good things about this amp. I will post a review when installed.
