Android Single Din w/o Cutting!

Very cool! Did you get the dash controls to work? I have an android unit in my Ridgeline. The unit read the dash controls just fine without any other modules since it was resistance based. Is the s2000 dash controls resistance based as well?

Will let you know how it goes!

So, I tried to use the Modifry kit since I'd had an Alpine deck earlier and it's not working. So I'm going to rewire directly and let the unit learn the controls. Thinking of doing the Audio Mode as the Google Assistant button, CHA as "change to next song", and volume, well, you know.

Post #2. Looks like it's definitely resistance based. What's cool is I think you could even do combinations of buttons to get different resistance values and have the radio do different things. What pin is the radio control btw?

The dash buttons go to ground, on one of the three pins on the back of each switch (except for mode, it's12v+), when you press it. I have the mode button set to open/close my garage, vol+ is unlock the car, vol- is lock, mute to turn off my alexa, and CH is popping the trunk. So maybe you can use a relay to trigger something that will activate google assistant?

Interesting. Does the unit have two lines for the steering wheel controls? Mine has two named k1 and k2. Maybe k1 could be connected to pin 3, then you could put a resistor between pin 14 and k2 for the mute to work.

The mute, pin 14, supplies +12v when on, rather than ground. Seems like you could use a relay to convert it to ground/open to use your resister trick,
though you'd need to do something to make it momentary rather than continuously on.

Hi,
thanks for sharing this. Looks great and must be powerful enough as a good android tablet.
Do you think the screen ribbon is long enough to install the screen on a modifry bracket perhaps and then reinstall the original door to cover the naked unit?
thanks in advance for your reply.
