Another Dash Cutter...
So after searching for a shop, finding a shop, getting flaked on, searching for a former member, finding a former member, specing out a build and getting everything installed. I am happy to say the final product meets and exceeds my expectations.
FIRST OF ALL - If you are considering having an in-dash navi / monitor installed and you are in S. FL - I cannot recommend anyone other then Alex (jdmcrave on S2KI). He's done about half a dozen of these installs already and they get better as he goes.
My build started out with wanting Navigation. That's it. I considered the OEM Navi, then figured that was a little too antiquated and would not have support for much longer (does it even still have new discs?). I really wanted to go with an Eclipse Double DIN, but didn't want to get into all the modifications behind the dash (cutting airbag tray, rerouting/losing passenger side AC). Upon Alex's recommendation, I finally settled with a Alpine system. TME-M770 touch screen, NVE-N872A Navi and a DVA-9861 HU (for DVD playback).
I figured I was getting all this work done, so might as well round out the system. I decided to go with Alpine 6.5 Type Rs up front and 5.25 Type Rs in SPods. I bounced back and forth on Amping it, and Im glad I decided to. An Alpine MRP-F600 was ordered up along with a Streetpower Amp Kit, Modifry DCI and JDM Bezel.
The install took about 4 days (dropped of Thursday night, picked up Monday night) and Alex kept me posted with phone calls and pics as he went. I wanted everything as OEM as possible, so the JDM Bezel was used for the screen (Alex is actually able to heat/modify the bezel so it points at the driver). The Amp was installed above the gas tank, and the Navi was installed under the drivers seat. The SPods also offer a fantastic OEM touch and provide a great mounting option for those not wanting to cut up their interior and the DCI makes sure everything runs like stock.
Well, enough of my blabbering, but before on get to the pics, if ANYONE needs to get a hold of Alex, again it's 'jdmcrave' on S2KI or 'ebay2532@hotmail.com'
