I'm seeing some incredible pricing on some Lanzar stuff and am curious if it's any good. Thanks.

it's one of the better bargain amps, but for not much more money you can move to mid-grade stuff that is very good. if you give an idea of budget people can make recommendations.

the only lanzar amp i would think of running is the optidrive 1000.1 (which you can find cheap on ebay).

Dont' really have a fixed budget, but the cheaper the better as long as the sound is OK. I'm not a real audiophile by any means. I'd like to add some rears and power those off the same 4-channel that's running my doors. That switch means I'll need a seperate amp to channel 2 8's in the trunk. I'm only running 75W per channel out of my current amp, so I don't need anything overpowering. I was thinking along the lines of a budget sub amp of some sort, but I don't know which are good values for the money. I'd like something inexpensive but I'd rather spend a little more money than get a real cheap amp and have to replace it in a year 'cause it broke.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

What speakers/subs are you looking at?

How much power do you need going to your rears? If not a lot, you can run them off your deck which'll free up some power for subs if you wanna get a single 4ch

Or otherwise, there are plenty of 5-channel amps that should suit your needs

Look at US Acoustics, Cadence, Hifonics, Autotek (w0ot!), and Soundstream's Picasso line...

a few options there. power the rear speakers off the head-unit, wire the 2-8inch subs for a 4ohm load and run them off the channels 3+4 bridged to a MONO load (assuming your amp supports this). that would give around 300 watts to the subwoofers.

if you need more power to the subwoofers, look at the kicker 600.1--which is under-rated, it does about 700W RMS @ 2ohms. So each sub would get plenty of power, I've seen that amp for around $300. Another good one would be the ED Nine.1 amp--but it does max power @1ohm.

which subs are you thinking about, the wiring impedance loads make a big difference on which amp to get.

Thanks guys, I think I may not have been clear. I already have a 4-channel that's currently powering my fronts and subs. It's definately under-powered for the subs. What I'm thinking is that I'll add some rears powered by the 2nd channel of my existing amp and add a whole new amp just for the subs (2 8" @ 4ohms). I'm trying to determine a decent, inexpensive amp just for the subs. They're rated at 200W RMS.

Also, while I'm thinking about it. Anybody got an recommendations for decent rears at a decent price? They'd be driven by an amp that claims it's putting 70W to 'em but I'm guessing that in the real world, they wouldn't see any more than 50W RMS. (of course speakers are usually overrated as well so it may be a push there).

are you running the subs with channel 3 to one sub and channel 4 to the other sub? are you running them bridged?

with a new amp, i'd sug. an amp that does 2 ohm (wire the subs in parallel)

here is a cheap alpine amp that does 2ohm.

here is another great amp that would fit. you can take the shroud off so it isn't too big. the actual rating is closer to 500RMS (under-rated) and they have a great rep. in fact i bought one myself, don't trust that price i got them to pricematch another dealer and paid $220 for mine.

Yeah that Alpine looks like it would do the trick and the price is right. I'll have to look into that.

Right now I don't have any rears. I'm using Sony components in the doors. I'd call those average at best, but I'm not gonna replace them at this juncture, just add two speakers behind the seats.
