Default Anyone Float Amps?

Has anyone every tried floating amps in the trunk? I'm mainly concerned with space to angle the amps and what material to use and where to bolt them down... I have two amps: JL 300/2 and JL 500/1 and would like to float them on either side of the tool well where my sub will be located.

If you have any pictures of floating amps in the S's trunk that would help a LOT cuz I'm more of a visual person...

another possibility would be to mount each amp behind the seats? is that a good idea and has it been done before?

thanks all!

I've considered a floated amp idea for a while now. My thoughts were to make the mount go back into the spare tire area and build a new "back" for the right side of the trunk. This way the amp wouldn't be all of the way into the trunk, there would be a firm mounting location (the spare tire mount) and you could easily make it "float" with the right materials.

I've since changed my mind and have a motorized idea floating around in my head. I like how it's, currently, hidden (completly in the spare tire location) and not taking up any trunk space, but I'd like to show it off sometimes. So I've got a fairly inexpensive (less then $80) idea for getting it to motor out. Just need to get some time.

I have mine floating, well I only have 1 amp but the idea is still the same. When I get home I will post up a pic or 2.

Basically I made "legs" using painted 1/2" pvc pipe painted to match the carpet and washers, the way my amp mounts you cannot see them. You can also make metal mounts, plexiglass mounts etc.

Check in the Install gallery. There are a ton of them. I think NRFs2000NYC had his old Audiobahn amps "floating". Not too difficult to do, if you have small enough amps / dont care about space.
