Default Anyone have the new Pioneer Premier p740mp head unit yet (MP3 based)?

I saw it on their company website & the specs look pretty good...Silver detachable face, mp3 player, 3 pre-outs (4V), 3D organic display & most importantly, the price's reasonable (MSRP of $400). If you have it or tried it out, can you tell me how's the startup/iniliazation & track to track load time of mp3 songs (How many seconds)? The reason I ask is b/c I want a mp3 head unit that loads quickly from track to track & startup/initializtion like the Alpine version but w/a lower price tag. Yes, I know about the JVC model, however I trust Pioneer more then I trust JVC. Thanks!

I don't think it's going to be out until mid-February. I am waiting to get the DEH-7400MP, as far as I can tell it is identical to the P740MP with the exception of the 2yr vs. 1yr. warranty. I have an order placed for it - $330 at crutchfield.

Actually, the 740mp has 3 pre-outs compared to 2 pre-outs of the 7400mp. All of the pre-outs of the 740mp have 4 volts compared to the 7400mp which is less. I got the info from the company website.

You could also wait on the 8400 and 9400 models. More info is on Pioneer's website in a press release.

You guys can always put an order in with me soon as you know they are going to be out. If I know they will be in high demand I can be sure to get my hands on them ASAP! If Crutchfield comes out with it first great! Just a thought.

I just got an email from an online vendor earlier today stating they just got the first shipment of these already. So, they should be available by now at most places I guess. What I really want to know is my original question...How's the mp3 track to track/folder to folder & initialization time.

I finally got to use the mp3 feature of the Alpine 7878 & the Kenwood Z919 (Or Z828, it was the newest one w/the 3d F1 racing display) today. Wow, what a difference in terms of loading & track to track between these two models. The kenwood would take around 3-5 seconds to do track to track & initialization. While the Alpine would be like a regular music cd, as in instantenous...Simply amazing. That's what I'm hoping the Pioneer 740MP would be like. Please help if anybody knows the anser...

The Civic just got broken into over the weekend & I need a new head unit badly for it.

Count me in for either a 840 or 940, I'm trying to find out how long before they are out.

I guess I was wrong. I canceled the order for the P7400MP, I should have my P740MP by Thursday (1 week from day). I'll let you know...
